As a rule, I don't get too exotic when it comes to cooking. Being a mom, I try to keep things simple, so I can be fairly sure my kids will eat what I prepare. But when Pops (an aspiring chef) cooks, you never know what you might find on your plate. That's not an entirely bad thing, as was the case when we decided to try our own version of the brisket burger. I don't dislike pimento cheese, but I never would have thought to pair it with brisket, on a sandwich, no less.
But...believe me when I tell you this burger was gooood!
These are the items we used for our version:
- King's Hawaiian hamburger buns
- Pre-cooked & sliced brisket
(We would love to have smoked our own brisket, but alas, we are without a smoker/grill at the moment.)
- BBQ Sauce
- Pimento Cheese
- Green bell peppers
- Dill pickles
- I chose to enjoy my sandwich sans white onions, but Pops had them on his.
I never would have imagined this combination could be so good. It just proves that our mothers were right when they said, "You'll never know if you like it, if you don't try it!" ;)
